The struggle is real
Real talk: hair thinning is officially a mood killer. Whether you are dealing with perimenopause or just general age-related thinning, it is lowkey stressful. Sali Hughes, a beauty writer, recently opened up about her own experience with hair loss, noting that after testing endless products, she finally found something that actually lives up to the hype.
Is it giving results?
After hitting a wall with standard products, Hughes turned to a subscription service called Hair+Me. It is basically a direct line to clinicians who prescribe proven, evidence-backed medications like Minoxidil, Finasteride, and Dutasteride.
She’s not the only one seeing Ws. Hughes shared that she recommended the service to a friend, Cait, who was dealing with significant shedding. After starting the prescribed routine, Cait saw "baby hairs" forming in just a few weeks. Hughes herself has seen new growth after two months, though she did note a side-effect: a little extra chin hair. (Time to level up your tweezing game, besties.)
Skip the gimmicks
Hughes emphasizes that you should save your coins on "rosemary shampoos and dubious tech gadgets" that influencers push on your timeline. While you can sometimes get these treatments from your GP, the struggle of booking appointments makes the paid subscription route a major time-saver.
Why it matters
It is giving "main character energy" to stop feeling guilty about caring for your hair. Hughes points out that hair loss isn't just some shallow "champagne problem”—it’s a genuine source of anxiety for many. Taking control of it isn't vain, it’s just prioritizing yourself.
