Ever feel like the air in your office is just… stale? Turns out, that stuffy feeling isn't just in your head. Founders Tanvi Thombre and Lakshya Saraf started Greenairy after a super scary experience in their university makerspace, where toxic fumes from 3D printers and laser cutters went unnoticed until a friend fainted.

The invisible problem

While regular air purifiers are great at catching dust and pollen, they lowkey struggle with Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)—basically invisible chemicals like formaldehyde and benzene that hang out in modern offices. These VOCs are the main culprits behind "sick building syndrome," which leaves you feeling gross and unfocused.

Greenairy’s solution? A "smart" plant tower. Think of it as a houseplant on steroids. Instead of just looking cute on your desk, these towers actively suck in air, break down those nasty gases, and pump out fresh air. The best part: because it’s biological, you don’t have to keep buying expensive replacement filters. It’s giving eco-friendly genius.

Does it actually work?

In pilot tests around Singapore, Greenairy compared their towers against medical-grade ionizers and HEPA purifiers. The result? The plant towers hit the lowest VOC levels and cleared the air faster. They even reported a 50% drop in average VOC levels during office hours. The company is currently prepping for mass production in 2027, with the founders currently splitting time between Singapore and Berkeley to get the tech ready for prime time.

Why it matters

We spend like 90% of our lives indoors, and if your office air is literally making you sick, your productivity is taking an L. If Greenairy can prove these towers are as effective as they claim, it could be a massive W for office wellness and actually making your workspace feel like a place you want to be.
