The Grammys race is heating up
Real talk: the road to Music’s Tensest Night (aka the 2027 Grammy ceremony on Feb. 7) is officially open. The general ballots hit Recording Academy members’ inboxes this past Monday, and the first round of voting is locked in until Oct. 22. We’re still a few weeks out from the official nominee reveal on Nov. 16, but that’s never stopped us from manifesting our predictions, right?
The frontrunners we're watching
We’ve got a massive list of potential nominees for Record of the Year, and honestly, the vibes are high. The competition is looking like a total "murderer’s row." We’re seeing a potential Taylor Swift vs. Olivia Rodrigo showdown that is lowkey going to break the internet and start some spicy fan feuds. Alongside them, we’ve got a fab squad of newer icons like Raye, Olivia Dean, Ella Langley, and Sienna Spiro.
While guys like Bruno Mars and Noah Kahan are in the mix, the tides seem to be pointing toward a diva taking home the gold. Kahan, who only has one previous nomination for Best New Artist, could definitely surprise us, though. Plus, we all know his acceptance speech would be an absolute W.
Why Ella Langley is the one to beat
If you want the objective tea, keep your eyes on Ella Langley. Her track "Choosin’ Texas" has been absolutely iconic, smashing records by spending 24 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. It’s basically the elephant in the room. Country music has struggled to land big wins in these categories lately, but Langley is set to change that energy, potentially being the first country winner for Record or Song of the Year in ages.
Why it matters
With thousands of voters from different corners of the industry, the Grammys are notoriously unpredictable. This year's Record of the Year race highlights a major shift toward female dominance in the charts, and the upcoming results will define who truly owned the music landscape this year.
