Rep. Tom Emmer, the Republican House Majority Whip, is hitting the road hard, visiting 56 districts to rally the GOP base for the midterm elections. His message? The Democratic Party is full of 'anti-American' candidates, lowkey sounding more like communists and Marxists than actual Democrats.
"You got to be kidding. They want us to call them democratic socialists, there's nothing democratic about these people," Emmer told Fox News Digital. He's not holding back, particularly calling out Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed.
The "Anti-American" Accusations
Emmer's beef with El-Sayed? Apparently, the candidate thinks U.S. NFL football is a prime example of toxic masculinity. Emmer also alleges El-Sayed supports someone who believed America "deserved to lose 3,000 people on 9-11." Real talk, these are some wild accusations.
Emmer contrasted this with candidates like Paul LePage, who he says "loves his state, loves this country and believes in the promise of America." The vibe right now is definitely pro-America, if you're a Republican, anyway.
The Economic Angle
When asked about the administration's record, Emmer pointed the finger squarely at the economy. "The Biden administration put this economy in the ditch, literally," he claimed, citing inflation not seen in 40 years. He argued that while gas prices are still too high, they aren't enough reason to vote for what he's calling "communists."
The GOP is facing a tough political climate, dealing with historical trends that usually see the president's party lose seats in midterms. Add in high costs for everyday essentials and an unpopular war, and it's a lot to navigate. But Emmer seems confident that by highlighting these alleged "anti-American" sentiments and focusing on the economy, the GOP can get out the vote.
