The Apex was absolutely popping on Tuesday.
The ninth week of Dana White’s Contender Series delivered massive energy and four first-round finishes that ultimately turned into four brand-new UFC contracts. If you missed it, the vibes were high and the hits were heavy.
Big moves from the main event
Preston LaGrange absolutely ate in the main event, taking down Nell Ariano. After Ariano got him on his back early on, LaGrange scrambled back up and turned the tide. He landed a lethal right hook followed by some heavy shots that finished the job. It was a masterclass in counter-punching.
The security guard turned star
The biggest moment of the night, though? That’s gotta go to Sal Everett. This guy has spent the last three years doing security for the UFC and assisting executives, and now he’s officially a UFC fighter. He took down Ozzy Martin with a clean knockout in the very first round. Everett is now a perfect 5-0. Talk about a glow-up.
Also bringing the heat were Roque Conceicao, who locked in a gorgeous triangle choke on Alexander Chavez, and Mateus Soares, who grabbed a first-round TKO against Ryuho Miyaguchi. Alivia Bierley pulled off a major upset by taking down the favored Summer Onley via unanimous decision, though she was the only winner on the night to miss out on a contract.
Why it matters
This week’s results show just how wild the path to the UFC can be. Between a staff member punching his ticket to the main roster and fresh talent like LaGrange proving they can handle a brawl, the promotion's pipeline is looking stacked.
