Birthdays are supposed to be perfect, but sometimes the chaos is just a vibe. A New York City casting agent named Chelsi Kern recently ordered a classic Fudgie the Whale cake for her husband, Matthew Bennett, and things went hilariously off the rails.
Kern wanted the cake to feature a simple, ominous message for the birthday boy. She requested that the decorator write the word “RUN” on top of the cake, specifying in the receipt instructions: “(BIG, all caps, creepy if possible).”
Instead of a chilling one-word statement, the Carvel employee followed the prompt with extreme accuracy—maybe too much accuracy. The cake arrived with the inscription: “Run & Big, All Caps Creepy if Possiple.”
The aftermath
Kern admitted she was “wheezing so hard” she literally collapsed when she saw the result. While her husband was initially confused by the bizarre sentence, once he saw the receipt, he caught the drift and found it just as funny.
Even though some people online suggested she demand a refund for the mistake, Kern decided to keep it. “We have this deeply funny story that us and our friends are going to know forever,” she said.
Why it matters
It’s a reminder that when life gives you a botched order, you can either get mad or find the humor in the mistake. Kern chose to embrace the chaos rather than ruin the party, proving that sometimes the best memories come from the biggest Ls.
