The comeback is officially on
Real talk: we love a resilient king. Carrot Top—aka Scott Thompson—is heading back to the stage this Sunday, October 19, to resume his residency at the Luxor Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. It’s been a minute since we’ve seen him; he was hospitalized following a suicide attempt back on September 18.
After a month of recovery, the 61-year-old shared a super heartfelt post on Instagram, telling his followers he is “overwhelmed” by the support. He didn't shy away from how much the messages meant to him, saying, “Thank you for being there for me during this time. It truly means the world to me!” It’s giving main character energy in the best way possible—he’s clearly ready to get back to what he does best.
Why he’s a comedy icon
If you aren’t deep in the Carrot Top lore, you might not know his residency at the Luxor has been running for over 20 years. He’s been a staple of the Vegas scene for ages, even if he’s famously self-deprecating about his "icon" status. While he’s been in the game for nearly four decades, he’s still out here teaching the girlies (and guys) in the comedy world how to grind. His advice? Don't be afraid to bomb. "Eating it is part of growing as a comic," he once said on the Whiskey Ginger podcast.
Whether you’ve been a fan since his Star Search days or you just appreciate the commitment to the bit, it’s great to see him back on his feet.
Why it matters
Carrot Top’s return highlights how much his comedy has impacted fans over the years—many of whom reached out to share how his shows helped them through their own dark times. Mental health is a non-negotiable conversation, and his transparent recovery serves as a reminder that even the biggest stars need time to heal, and that there is always a path back to the things we love.
