The price action struggle
Bitcoin is currently vibing around the $86,000 mark after Monday’s market open. Even though we just saw our best weekly close since late January, the coin is finding it lowkey hard to push past the $86,500 level. It's giving "stuck in traffic" energy, especially with the 2026 yearly open at $87,570 looming overhead as some major psychological resistance.
Why the vibes are off
Real talk: it’s not just about crypto. US bond yields are back on their grind, and that’s putting a ceiling on risk assets everywhere. The 30-year yield just crossed 5.67%, putting it dangerously close to those 24-year highs we saw last week.
Trading firm QCP Capital noted that even with some softer employment data, elevated oil prices and high long-dated yields are basically killing the momentum. The market is also bracing for the upcoming Fed minutes this Wednesday, which traders think will be extra spicy given how unsettled the bond market currently is.
What the data says
While the price is hovering, Glassnode pointed out that the aggressive buyer dominance we saw back in mid-September has moderated. Don’t panic-sell your bags just yet, though—they confirmed that this isn't a sign of a massive trend reversal or structural exhaustion. Profit-taking is still running hot, especially among long-term holders as we trade above that $85,000 range. Remember, this isn't financial advice—stay safe and DYOR.
Why it matters
Bitcoin’s ability to hold its September gains despite broader economic headwinds shows it’s resilient, but as long as bond yields and geopolitical tensions remain in the chat, that "to the moon" momentum is taking a breather.
