The main event
Vietnamese cinema is having a massive moment right now, and Bee Entertainment is ready to take that energy global. Coming off a year where local films raked in over $114 million at home, the production house is showing up to the Asian Contents & Film Market (ACFM) in Busan with a slate that is lowkey giving main character energy.
The headliner is Arithmadtic, a psychological horror flick set in an elite international school that is leaning hard into the Dark Academia aesthetic. Starring Anh Thu and Lam Thanh My, the plot follows a transfer student who gets way too close to a teacher right as some seriously spooky, supernatural drama starts tearing the school’s vibe to shreds. It’s directed by Irving Ly and hits theaters in January 2027.
More to watch in 2027
Bee Entertainment isn't just stopping there. They’ve got three other features dropping throughout 2027:
- The Step-Mother: Directed by Tran Nhan Kien, this one explores the complicated, blurry line between tough love and genuine care after a boy loses his father.
- How to Find a Fortune in 60 Days: From director Pom Nguyen—who already smashed it with The Corpse franchise—this flick mixes action, comedy, and family drama for a third-quarter release.
- Dealing With a Ghost: A horror-rom-com dropping in the fourth quarter, directed by Le Ha Nguyen.
They’re also backing some serious TV heat, including The Unrecognized Heir, an 80-episode drama that’s already pulled in a casual 1 billion views on social media, and a new fantasy-comedy series, A Deal With God.
Why it matters
Vietnamese film is officially outperforming international titles in its home market, and Bee Entertainment—the team behind Vietnam’s Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?—is now looking for international partners to help take their storytelling to the world stage. They are essentially saying, 'The plot thickens,' and the rest of the world is finally paying attention.
