The vibes are officially off over at Love Island Australia. Ariana Madix, the main character of Love Island USA, just dragged the Aussie version of the show for using her likeness in an AI-generated promo video, and she is highkey not having it.

In a recent Instagram comment, the 41-year-old reality star made it crystal clear that she never signed off on this digital stunt. “They didn’t tell me AT ALL that the clip I shot would be used with AI,” Madix wrote. “Something I am firmly against. Wtf guys @loveislandau?”

The promo in question, which dropped Oct. 4, features a heavily AI-manipulated version of Madix handing over the keys to the Fiji villa to host Sophie Monk. The whole thing was labeled as “AI content” by Instagram, and fans in the comments are echoing Madix’s frustration. One user called the production choice “so embarrassing,” noting that the show should’ve just prioritized a real-life set over a cheap AI edit.

ITV Studios Australia, the production company behind the series, hasn’t responded to the shade yet. Madix is keeping her focus on her own gig, having recently secured her spot as host for season nine of Love Island USA in 2027. Real talk: it’s definitely an L for the production team to ghost their own talent like that.

Why it matters

This situation highlights the growing tension in the industry regarding AI, specifically the use of deepfake-style tech to manipulate an actor’s likeness without their explicit consent. Madix’s public pushback adds to a larger conversation about digital rights in entertainment.
