The Altcoin Rush
The vibes on-chain are shifting, and it’s giving major sell-pressure energy. According to the latest data from CryptoQuant, altcoin deposits onto exchanges have absolutely exploded over the last two weeks, hitting levels we haven't seen since October 2025.
Between September 14 and September 28, the number of deposit transactions tracked by CryptoQuant rocketed from roughly 29,800 to 78,000—a massive 160% increase. The number of unique addresses moving their tokens onto exchanges nearly tripled in that same window, jumping from 17,600 to 51,600.
Why the sudden move?
Real talk: when you see a surge in coins flowing onto exchanges, it’s usually because holders are gearing up to trade or dump their bags. This uptick in activity comes after altcoins had a bit of a moment, outperforming Bitcoin recently. Even Glassnode’s 'Altcoin Cycle Signal' was flashing green for altcoins over BTC last week, and assets outside the top 10 by market cap reached their highest dominance level since February.
However, it's worth remembering that Bitcoin has been struggling to hold onto its recent gains after flirting with $87,000, and market liquidity remains a bit mid.
Why it matters
High exchange inflows are a classic indicator of potential incoming sell pressure. If you're holding altcoins, keep in mind that the market is showing signs of profit-taking. As always, this is not financial advice, so stay risk-aware—the market can be volatile, and you should always do your own research before reacting to on-chain swings.
