Living proof it’s never too late
Ever feel like you’re stuck in a rut? Well, meet the ultimate main character: a 99-year-old grandmother from Ohio who just set the Guinness World Record for the oldest person to crowd surf. Talk about an absolute W.
It all started back in 2013 when her grandson, Ross, filmed her blocking his basketball shot. The internet loved it, and since then, the duo has gained over 4 million followers on Instagram. After years of making comedy skits, they decided to tackle her bucket list, eventually landing on a wild plan to crowd surf at a Brantley Gilbert concert in Bellville, Texas.
The big stunt
When the big day arrived, she was 99 years and 274 days old. The original plan was to keep her safe on a board, but since it was flexing, Ross strapped her into a stretcher instead. Things got a little stressful when they realized the crowd was seated, forcing them to pivot to the mosh pit at the last second.
"I felt as if I was flying. I knew I had to trust everyone," she said. She was held aloft for over three minutes—nearly an entire song—even making it over a 10ft gap with the help of security.
Why it matters
Beyond the record-breaking stunt, this grandmother’s journey is honestly so wholesome. From working in a weapons factory during WWII to now meeting stars like Tom Holland and Bad Bunny, she’s proof that you shouldn’t let age stop you from chasing new experiences. She says the best part is hearing from fans who tell her their videos helped them feel less lonely. Her advice? Don't overthink it—just start doing the things you love, because time flies, no cap.
