It’s giving major main character energy as some of Hollywood’s biggest names swapped red carpets for hard hats this Thursday. A star-studded crew linked up with Habitat for Humanity Los Angeles to help rebuild homes destroyed by the devastating Palisades wildfires back in January 2025.
Who Showed Up
We’re talking icons like Bellamy Young, Joshua Jackson, Melissa Rivers, Betzaida Landin, and the legendary Sugar Ray Leonard. They weren’t just there for the photo op; they joined forces with over 500 volunteers—including construction pros and wildfire survivors—to frame new homes and handle critical repairs in the Pacific Palisades and Malibu areas. Big players from Paramount, Universal Pictures, and Warner Bros. Discovery were also on the scene to show support.
The Real Tea
The 2025 blaze was a total disaster, burning over 23,000 acres and destroying nearly 7,000 structures. While almost 1,000 homes are currently under construction, many families are struggling with a financial gap that makes rebuilding feel impossible. Habitat for Humanity is prioritizing low-income and underinsured households to help them get back on their feet. Plus, Samsung is sliding into the mix with $1 million in appliances to fully furnish homes for survivors. It’s a massive W for the community.
Why it matters
This isn't just about hammering wood; it's about restoring stability for families who lost everything. With 160 households already approved for help and more in the pipeline, these efforts are closing the gap between "displaced" and "home" for some of LA's most vulnerable residents.
