A chance to be heard
Real talk: how much time are you actually spending on your FYP? If you live in Jersey and are in Years 4 through 12, Statistics Jersey wants to know. Starting October 5, they are launching the 2026 Children and Young People's Survey, and it's a major W if you want your voice to reach government officials.
What's the tea?
This isn't your average boring school questionnaire. For the first time, the survey is diving into the world of tech, asking students about their usage of social media apps and generative AI tools. It’s giving… data-driven insights. They are also looking into some real-world issues, including whether students have caring responsibilities at home or have consistent access to food.
Chief statistician Ian Cope says they worked directly with students this year to make sure the questions actually reflect what's on your mind. The whole thing is voluntary, totally anonymous, and can be done online through October 16. The results are set to drop in Spring 2027.
Why it matters
The government uses this data to figure out which policies actually help and where they’re missing the mark. By sharing your experience, you’re helping them build a clearer picture of the challenges your generation is facing—from the digital landscape to daily life. It’s the easiest way to make sure the people in charge don't miss the mark.
